QRchestra is a project at the intersection of theatre, sound art, and new media, in which the creative team, formed by Kamarova, Levet, Svobodová, and Železný, applies compositional techniques to work with reproduced sound and the participatory potential of the audience. The aim of the project is to create a listening situation, which enables participants to engage with and generate their own media content by following multimodal scores.
QRchestra’s members are both players and listeners. The scores here are contained within QR codes, which act as gateways to HTTPS addresses granting access to individual scenes. Each scene employs a distinct set of tools, allowing participants to engage with or modify audiovisual content in various ways. Guidance for participants is provided through a system of LCD screens and public announcement system, which here act as the conductor of QRchestra. The outputs of the interactions are saved on a server, forming the foundation for generative compositions performed by the cell phones of the audience.
